Magic Ludic at Palas: SCANDINAVIA Music School Students Took the Stage

On August 30, 2026, the Palas esplanade in Iași hosted the Magic Ludic concert of SCANDINAVIA Music School. On stage, beneath the school's banner, came the students — as soloists, before an audience gathered in the open air, in the middle of the city. It is exactly the kind of audience that cannot be simulated in a classroom.

A real stage, not a school show

The difference between singing in the practice room and singing on a stage in the middle of the city has nothing to do with the repertoire. It has to do with everything that gathers around it: a real stage, strangers who stop and listen, and no chance to start over. At Palas, the school's students went through all of this one by one, as soloists, and the program also included a teacher–student duet — the moment in which it becomes clearest what a child works on week after week.

For parents looking for a music school, this is perhaps the most useful point of comparison: not how many hours of study are put in, but whether the school takes its students onto a stage. Study without a stage remains a private exercise. The stage turns it into experience.

What happens on that first stage

Stage fright is not a flaw of character, and it does not vanish because we tell a child not to be nervous. It is something you learn to manage. The first minutes on stage change, in this order:

  • Breathing — under emotion it grows shorter, and the child discovers in concrete terms why all those breathing exercises were worth doing.
  • Attention — on stage there is no starting again. You learn to carry on rather than stop at a hesitation.
  • Presence — posture, the eyes lifted from the score, the way you end a piece and stay there in front of the audience.
  • Confidence — the kind that comes not from praise, but from something proven: I went up and I sang.

Those who have been on stage before are easy to recognize: they walk on differently, they take their place unhurriedly, they know what comes next. It is a difference built concert after concert, not lesson after lesson.

The awards: medals, alongside the teachers

The concert closed with the award ceremony for the students. The medals were handed out on stage, and the photographs show the students alongside the teachers who prepared them — a detail that says enough about the way things are done at SCANDINAVIA Music School: the teacher does not stay in the wings, but goes up together with the student, in the duet and at the awards.

For a child, a medal received in public weighs more than any mark in a notebook. Not because it is a competition won, but because it is work acknowledged in front of the very people they have just sung for.

How the road to the stage begins

SCANDINAVIA Music School is the music school founded in Iași by tenor Gabriel Bîrjovanu. It teaches singing, piano, guitar, theory and solfège, and the road from the first lesson to a stage like the one at Palas is traveled step by step, at each student's own pace.

The first meeting is free: 30 minutes of testing and assessment, in which the teacher listens to the student and decides where the work would begin.
