Byzantine Music
Ștefan Graur is a graduate and Master's degree holder from the 'George Enescu' National University of Arts in Iași, Faculty of Music. He is an ordained psalt with over 10 years of experience in Byzantine chanting and religious music. He graduated in 2017 from the Orthodox Theological Seminary in Iași, and currently serves as an associate professor at the 'George Enescu' National University of Arts, where he teaches oriental instrument (kanun) and Greek language. Since 2021, he is a member of the Byzantion Academic Choir, one of the most appreciated Byzantine music ensembles in Romania. His artistic and pedagogical activity is complemented by participation in numerous masterclasses and specialized workshops, being deeply passionate about Byzantine music – both in its liturgical and concert dimensions – as well as the oriental musical universe. Within the Byzantine Music department at Scandinavia Music School, Ștefan Graur aims to transmit to his students not only the rigor and beauty of this ancient art, but also the sensitivity, spirituality, and refinement of the Byzantine tradition.
